Celebrating the Gift of Fatherhood

A Special Father’s Day by Our Catechism Children

At the Carmelite Monastery in Margao, Father’s Day was celebrated with heartfelt devotion and joy by our catechism children, honouring both our Heavenly Father and the irreplaceable gift of earthly fathers. This celebration beautifully coincided with the Feast of the Holy Trinity, deepening the reflection on the unity, love, and life shared within the Divine Family.

The Feast of the Holy Trinity was meaningfully preached by Fr. Marlon Rodrigues, OCD, the Superior of the Carmelite Monastery who reflected on the Holy Trinity as the perfect communion of love between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. His homily reminded us that just as the Trinity is bound in unity and love, so too are we called to live in love and unity within our own families. The celebration was an expression of faith and family, mirroring the divine relationship that lies at the heart of our Christian life.

God, our Heavenly Father, is the perfect model of love, protection, and guidance. Through Him, we learn the true essence of fatherhood. Earthly fathers are a precious blessing — a reflection of God’s presence in our lives, nurturing us with strength, wisdom, and care.

During the Holy Mass, all fathers were lifted in prayer by the children and Fr. Marlon Rodrigues, OCD, the Superior of the Carmelite Monastery-Margao. Following the Mass, the children offered a touching tribute by singing “You Are That Someone,” a song that expressed their deep gratitude and love. Some children also shared handmade cards with their fathers, adding a personal and heartfelt touch.

This celebration was made special by the dedicated efforts of our catechists and the unwavering support of parents, who helped prepare the children and made this day possible. Through their guidance, the children grew in love, gratitude, and spiritual understanding, truly celebrating fatherhood in the light of faith.
