Date: 29th June 2025
Location: Carmelite Monastery, Margao – Goa
Theme: Pilgrims of Hope – Jubilee Year 2025

The Catechetical Year 2025–2026 at the Carmelite Monastery, Margao, commenced with a spiritually enriching Inaugural Mass under the pastoral guidance of Rev. Fr. Marlon Rodrigues (OCD), Spiritual Director and Prior, and Rev. Fr. Don Tony (OCD), Formator.

A Celebration Rooted in the Jubilee Year’s Mission
The celebration began with an insightful explanation of the Pilgrims of Hope logo, aligning with the global Church’s mission set by Pope Francis. As described in the logo:
- The cross of 198 sticks symbolises unity among Goa and Daman’s parishes.
- Rays of light reflect Christ’s hope reaching the world.
- Diverse human figures and an anchor of faith emphasise inclusion and spiritual grounding.
These elements mirror our call to journey with eight focus groups, including the elderly, migrants, families, youth, and the poor—walking in compassion and faith.

🙏 Saints Peter and Paul – Different Paths, One Mission
Fr. Marlon’s homily masterfully tied the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul to the catechetical mission of the year. He highlighted that:
- Peter, though flawed and impulsive, was chosen for his humility and repentance.
- Paul, a former persecutor, became the Church’s greatest missionary through conversion.
“God doesn’t choose the obvious—He chooses those willing to rise after the fall.”
Both saints remind us that leadership can rise from weakness, and hope is found in what God can do through us, not in who we are.
👨👩👧👦 Strengthening the Community – PTA Meeting

While children participated in fun and faith-filled activities, a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting took place, introducing key guidelines for the year. Highlights included:
- Classes begin at 8:00 AM sharp, followed by Mass at 9:00 AM.
- 75% attendance and timely homework submissions are mandatory.
- A strong emphasis was placed on prayer, respect, modesty, and family involvement.
- Children are required to memorize prayers in English and Konkani.
- Oral and written assessments will be held periodically.
“Hope begins with small acts – in classrooms, homes, parishes, and hearts.” – Romans 5:5

✨ Looking Ahead with Hope
With the theme of Pilgrims of Hope at its core, this catechetical year invites families, catechists, and children to walk together in faith, compassion, and purpose—embracing the mission not just to teach, but to live the Gospel.
