Carmelite Religious Get-Together: A Day of Prayer and Spiritual Renewal

On 16th January 2026, the Carmelite Monastery joyfully hosted a spiritually enriching get-together of Carmelite religious, bringing together around 30 men and women religious for a day dedicated to prayer, reflection, and deep communion with the Lord.
The gathering was graced by a profound psycho-spiritual session conducted by Fr. Praveen D’Souza, Superior of Emmaus. Drawing from both psychological insight and the rich mystical tradition of St. John of the Cross, Fr. Praveen offered a reflective and practical presentation that invited participants to explore the inner journey toward spiritual maturity. His talk highlighted the importance of self-awareness, emotional healing, and silent surrender as essential elements in growing intimacy with God, especially within the Carmelite contemplative tradition.
Following the input session, the day unfolded in a prayerful rhythm from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., allowing ample time for personal prayer, meditation, and silent contemplation. The atmosphere throughout the day was marked by stillness, recollection, and a shared desire to remain in the presence of the Lord. Stepping away from daily responsibilities, the participants experienced the grace of simply spending time with God.
The gathering concluded peacefully with tea, offering a moment of gentle fellowship and gratitude for the shared spiritual journey. The day proved to be a meaningful experience of renewal, strengthening both individual vocation and communal bonds within the Carmelite family.
This get-together was truly a grace-filled day of prayer and reflection, faithful to the Carmelite charism of contemplation, silence, and intimate friendship with God.
