On 18th January, Fr. Cannio Cardozo, OCD, published his fourth book, a novel titled Needle of Forgiveness. The book was released at the Carmelite Monastery, Margao, Goa,marking a significant milestone in his journey as a Carmelite priest and writer.
Fr. Cannio, a Goan Carmelite friar from Camurlim (Salcete), currently serves in Canada as Assistant Pastor at Holy Trinity Parish, North Vancouver, and Chaplain at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. His writing journey began during the COVID-19 lockdown, when silence, solitude, and prayer became fertile ground for creativity.
Before the pandemic, writing was never part of his plan. However, the sudden stillness of lockdown opened a new path. Rooted deeply in Carmelite spirituality, silence became for him not emptiness but encounter—an opportunity to listen to God and to the silent struggles of people around him. Out of this listening was born his first three books, a reflective trilogy titled “I – You – Them.”
All I Have Is I explores self-awareness and personal growth.
All I Have Is You reflects on relationships and human interconnectedness.
All I Have Is Them widens the vision to creation and ecological responsibility.
His fourth book, Needle of Forgiveness, is a novel distinctly different from the earlier works. Rooted in the soil, culture, emotions, and lived realities of Goa, the story carries the fragrance of the land—its people, struggles, memories, and hope. It reflects the power of forgiveness as a quiet yet transformative force in human life.
For Fr. Cannio, writing is not merely a hobby but an extension of his priestly ministry. Shaped by prayer, silence, and contemplation, his works invite readers—beyond religious boundaries—to reflection, inner healing, balance, and peace.
Through Needle of Forgiveness, Fr. Cannio once again reminds us that even in times of silence and uncertainty, grace can give birth to creativity, and faith can find new ways to speak to the human heart.
